- Your Land, Their Pipeline: Finding Common Ground on Rights-of-Way

When pipeline companies manage rights-of-way in ways that align with what landowners actually value for their land — wildlife habitat, open space, a clean property line — trust between both parties goes up. This research shows that the right-of-way doesn't have to be a source of conflict; that relationship can be a genuine win-win for all involved. - Does Overestimation of Upward Head Orientation Exaggerate Height Estimates?

Our prior research has discovered that upward head orientation is overestimated similarly to downward head orientation, and by a factor of ~1.5. This aligns with the tendency to overestimate upward distance targets by the same factor. In this presentation, I will discuss work that first examined whether height estimates are directly related to upward head orientation. Next, I’ll discuss whether changing people’s head orientation leads to changes in people’s perception of height. Lastly, I will talk about how vertical vision shows a common scale expansion and leads to corresponding distance estimates that reliably predict how we spatially map the environment. - The Scared Scientist of Horror Films

Analysis of streams near the Ohio State University-Mansfield has been conducted by Dr. Costa's research group. Levels of nutrients, especially those containing nitrogen or phosphorus have been determined in long-range studies that started in 2021 and continue to the present. In this manner, seasonal effects on water quality have become apparent. Recent media attention has examined the effect specific nutrients and heat can have on algal growth. Monitoring nutrient amounts in Ohio streams can provide valuable information on our water quality. - Staging Old Plays for New Audiences
