New Student Orientation

New Student Orientation is a chance for new first-year and transfer students to learn more about the Ohio State University at Mansfield, meet the staff and faculty who will support you in your first year, and register for classes.

Step 1: The Basics (Pre-Orientation)

  • Pay your acceptance fee. See Take Your Next Steps for more information.
  • Set up your BuckeyeMail account

Note: the university communicates important information through students’ Buckeyemail account only, so check your university email regularly.

Step 2: Register for Orientation

Register for Orientation by visiting your Applicant Center.

  • Autumn Admit: Orientation registration opens in March.
  • Spring Admit: Orientation registration opens in November.

Step 3: Prepare for Orientation

  • Access CarmenCanvas (our learning management system) to find helpful information, including detailed instructions for accessing your placement tests.
    • Carmen course will be available in mid-April.
    • Placement tests are available in early May.
  • Complete your placement tests a least 5 business days before your scheduled Orientation session.

Note: students who have not completed their placement tests at least 5 days before their Orientation will not be able to receive a schedule at their Orientation session and will be scheduled with their advisor afterward.

Step 4: Attend Orientation!

For more details about what to expect, consult our CarmenCanvas Orientation resources.
