Submission of test scores for regional campus applicants is optional but strongly encouraged. Scores must come directly from the testing agency. When you take the ACT or SAT, indicate that you want your scores sent to Ohio State.

• Home-schooled applicants must submit an approved “excuse from attendance” verification (or equivalent) provided by a local school district or state official.
• Students who attend an unaccredited high school must have an official ACT, SAT or GED score sent directly from the testing agency.
• Applicants who will have been out of high school for two or more years by their term of enrollment are not required to submit scores. 

We strongly encourage you to apply by the deadline, as courses and financial aid are subject to availability. After the deadline, please contact us to schedule an appointment to apply in-person (subject to applicable admission rules and requirements).

Application fee and fee waivers 

We’re committed to keeping Ohio State Mansfield accessible and affordable for you and your family — so we have a special offer for you! We are waiving your application fee! From October 1-December 1 we are waiving the application fee. On the online application, enter this fee waiver code when prompted: RCW2026

Interested in more than one Ohio State campus?

You only need to submit one application even if you wish to be considered for more than one Ohio State campus. Please apply to your first-choice campus only — submitting more than one application will slow down processing time.

Planning to apply for financial aid? 

Supply your Social Security Number on your admission application if you plan to file the FAFSA and want Ohio State to receive it, or if you are the child of an Ohio State employee using the Dependent Tuition Assistance program.

These items plus your application (STEP 3) make up a complete application. Any outstanding requirements will be posted to your Applicant Center, so be sure to check your application status regularly after you apply. 

Official transcripts 

Submitting high school transcripts when applying is optional for most applicants (you’ll submit your final transcript after receiving an admissions decision). However, if you're interested in being considered for merit scholarships, ask your school counselor to send your transcript, including your senior year courses, to Ohio State (electronically, if possible). 

Official ACT or SAT scores 

How do I submit my scores? 

Submission of test scores for regional campus applicants is optional for most applicants but strongly encouraged. We must receive your official ACT or SAT score sent directly from the testing agency. Scores from transcripts will not be considered. Read more about score requirements in STEP 1. 

February 1: Priority Financial Aid Deadline

Every student is highly encouraged to file the FAFSA to be considered for the most financial aid (including scholarships, grants, loans and Federal Work-Study). Get important dates and simple steps for applying for aid. If you already missed the February 1 deadline, complete the FAFSA as soon as possible.

Within 1 to 5 days of applying, you will receive an email acknowledging receipt of your application. This email will include your OSU ID and Ohio State username (lastname.#).

• Use your Ohio State ID in correspondence with us about your application.
• Follow the instructions in the email to set up your Ohio State username (lastname.#). This will give you access to your Applicant Center where you can check on the status of your application.

Log in to your Applicant Center and click Application Status to view your application, including admission status and any incomplete items.

We're sending important, time-sensitive information — like your on-campus housing application and financial aid offer — to your BuckeyeMail account. Check BuckeyeMail several times a week at buckeyemail.osu.edu. Log in with your Ohio State username (lastname.#@buckeyemail.osu.edu) and password.

What if I haven't activated my username yet? Get instructions. 

Keep checking your personal email, too: We may still send important information there.

If you don’t end up enrolling at Ohio State, your BuckeyeMail account and all data will be removed at the end of the semester for which you applied.

If you haven’t already done so, submit the FAFSA and create your ScholarshipUniverse profile

Accept our offer of admission and pay your acceptance fee 

If you are admitted for autumn term, your nonrefundable $100 acceptance fee is due by May 1. If you are admitted for spring or summer term, check your Applicant Center for your deadline.

To pay your acceptance fee, or decline the offer of admission

Follow the directions on your notice of admission, which is emailed to you as soon as you’re admitted to Ohio State. You can also pay the fee through your Applicant Center.

Note: As a condition of enrollment, all admitted applicants are required to answer a question regarding disciplinary and felony history prior to paying the acceptance fee. 

To delay your admissions term

Contact Undergraduate Admissions before the application deadline for your desired term to discuss your options. Read our Gap Year Policy.

Finish strong, and submit your transcripts 

Final high school transcript 

Ask your school counselor to send your final transcript, including your senior year grades, to Ohio State upon graduation (electronically, if possible). If this course work was completed at a school outside of the United States, note that foreign language documents must be translated into English by the issuing institution, an authorized translator or a teacher of the language.

Your admission to Ohio State is contingent upon our receipt and review of your final high school transcript. If you fail to maintain the high academic standards under which you were admitted, your admission to Ohio State may be canceled.

If you’ve taken AP or IB classes, you may be able to receive credit for your test scores. To find out if you can earn credit for your AP or IB test scores, remember to have your official scores sent to Ohio State. 

University transcript 

If you have earned college credit while in high school, ask each institution you attended to send an electronic transcript to Ohio State so that we can begin evaluating your transferable credits. Do this around the time you pay your acceptance fee. If you’re still taking college classes at that time, make sure your final transcript is sent to Ohio State as soon as your grades have posted.

Important: Transcripts should not be delivered by the student or sent to other addresses on campus. Doing so will prevent acceptance of the transcript as official.

How to send university transcripts to Ohio State:

• If you attended an Ohio college or university, request that your transcript be sent electronically. 
• For other institutions, request electronic delivery (preferred). If ordering a transcript online, select The Ohio State University as a recipient. In the absence of a list of universities to select from, ask your school to email your transcript to ugdocs@osu.edu.  
• If your school does not offer electronic delivery, please have your transcript(s) mailed to:

Register for Orientation

Orientation is held prior to the opening of each term and is required for all students.

You will receive an email invitation to register for New Student Orientation once it opens. Orientation registration opens based on the term you are admitted:

Autumn Admit: Early April
Spring Admit: Mid-October
Summer Admit: Mid-March

Submit Your Housing Application
If you requested on-campus housing, an email will be sent to your Ohio State email account providing you a web link containing an online application for your completion. A housing application fee is required for the application to be processed.

Students admitted for autumn semester
Housing information for autumn semester students is emailed to students’ Ohio State email accounts starting in mid-March, based on the date acceptance fees are paid. We process housing contracts in the order we receive them.

Students admitted for spring or summer terms
Housing information is emailed after you have been admitted but no sooner than two months before the start of the desired term.

Receive you Financial Aid Notification

If you are admitted for autumn semester, financial aid packages are generally available by late March. For others, notifications are rolling. Learn more about accepting aid. You will receive an email in your BuckeyeMail account when your financial aid package is available. Haven't filed the FAFSA yet? Do so by the priority date of February 1.

Students who have paid the $100 Acceptance Fee by May 1 will receive email instructions in early June. This email will only be delivered to Ohio State email accounts. Since demand for these football tickets may exceed the supply, students are encouraged to order early. Once the supply of tickets has been exhausted, the sale will end.
