Fitness Classes

Fitness classes are a great way to stay active, meet fellow exercise enthusiasts and relieve stress and tension from classes, work and life. These classes are free to all Ohio State Mansfield and North Central State College students, faculty and staff. All you need to do is show up with your campus ID. Classes are also “Open to the Community.” Punch cards may be purchased for the community class at The Ohio State University Mansfield Business Office.

Meditation Class - Instructor: Laura Gibson
Meditation is a journey of self-inquiry. It is a practice that transforms one’s mind through concentrated focus or attention, in order to deepen sense of self, develop awareness within, and observe patterns or habits of the mind. With consistent practice, one will cultivate equanimity, emotional resilience, and a positive state of being. The purpose of this class is to introduce various techniques and methods to help facilitate this process of reflection within and to assist in developing one’s own practice at home. Techniques and methods to explore include breath awareness, basic breathing techniques (pranayama), body sensation, focused gaze, mindfulness, movement, visualization, iRest meditations and more.

Supplies to bring: pillow, throw blanket(s), yoga mat, blocks. Some blankets and blocks will be provided, but on a first come, first serve basis. This class is open to all students with various experience with meditation and is beginner friendly.

Yoga - Instructor: Carol Brown RYT 200
A Hatha yoga class encompasses both basic postures and breathing techniques of yoga to build strength and flexibility, combined with a flow of dynamic poses, linking movements with breath, to stimulate blood flow, healthy functioning of glands and organs, and to calm and relax the mind. Mix it up with gentle practice of holding postures for a little longer, to target the connective tissues of the joints working the pelvis, hips and lower spine. Top it off with restful postures to relieve fatigue, stress & promote an overall sense of well-being. Classes will be conducted using props such as blocks, straps, chairs & bolsters to support the body.
