2018 Welcome Week Activities Set Up Students for Success

MANSFIELD, OH -- The Fall 2018 Semester began August 21st on the Mansfield Campus of The Ohio State University. Many activities have been held around campus and will continue to help new students and returning students put their best foot forward this academic year. Events included a performance by Comedian Daniel Franzese on Monday, August 27, 2018, at 7 p.m. in Founders Auditorium. Franzese has been in numerous films including, Bristol Boys, Bully, Mean Girls, Party Monster, and War of the Worlds. He also played Eddie in the HBO series Looking. Franzese has also written, directed and performed in serval live comedy productions.

On August 28, 2018, from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. in the Ovalwood Hall lobby you can learn how to “Satisfy Your Hunger with Social Work.” Meet current students and staff within the social work program to learn about its requirements and career opportunities to change the lives of others. Social Work is one of the bachelor’s degrees that can be completed on the Mansfield Campus.

Trivial Pursuit: History Challenge will take place on Tuesday, August 28, 2018, from 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. in Ovalwood Hall room 100. History is another one of the degrees students can complete on the Mansfield Campus. The history department faculty will hold a trivial pursuit game to help students learn about career opportunities for history majors.

Also on Tuesday, August 28, 2018, Camp Hetuck will hold a Chipotle Fundraiser. If you make a purchase at the Ontario Chipotle and mention Ohio State, 50% of your total purchase will be donated back to the campus to help fund Camp Hetuck programs for students.

What can you do with an English major? The English faculty will talk about the benefits of an English major and future career opportunities August 29, 2018, from 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. in Ovalwood Hall room 100.

If you are interested in getting involved in the theater program, autumn auditions will begin August 29, 2018, at 6 p.m. in Founders Auditorium in Ovalwood Hall. The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde and One Night Only are this year’s theater productions. If you can’t make it to the Wednesday auditions, another one will be held Thursday, August, 30 from 12:40 p.m. – 1:20 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. in Founders Auditorium.

Stop by the Campus Recreation Center (CRC) on Wednesday, August 29 at 8 p.m. and Get Your Game On. It will be a fun filled night of special events, tournaments, and music. Free food for all who attend.
