The Pearl Conard Art Gallery at The Ohio State University at Mansfield is showcasing ceramic artwork through March 14.
The “Conscious Dirt” exhibit features artwork from 10 ceramic artists from Ohio State Columbus, including graduate students, lecturers and full-time faculty.
A wide variety of ceramic designs are on display, ranging from wheel-thrown vessels to hand-formed sculptures. The goal of the exhibit is to connect local art students and the public with artwork from experienced artists.
“Our exhibit space is beautiful, surrounded by a natural landscape with multiple windows to allow natural light to filter inside,” said Kate Shannon, associate professor of art at Ohio State Mansfield. “This is a win-win opportunity for the artists and for our students, who will get to see and interact with the people behind the artwork.”
Shannon is co-hosting the exhibit with Professor of Art John Thrasher. He said the display is an opportunity for Mansfield students to network and learn from those in Columbus, as well as the general public.
“This exhibit will show our students some of what is happening at the Columbus campus, including the research component that these artists are pursuing,” he said.
There is no fee to visit. The exhibit is staffed by students and will be open most school days, during normal daytime hours.
