About this event

A student’s motivation to learn is related to their achievement and grades, their attitudes toward school and homework, and to their future career choices. Although many of us think about student motivation as an unchangeable characteristic of students, there actually are many strategies that parents and educators can use to positively impact student motivation.

In this session, Dr. Eric Anderman, Professor of Educational Psychology and Interim Dean at Ohio State Mansfield, will share some common myths about student motivation, along with research-based strategies that can be used to improve student motivation.

Eric Anderman has been conducting research on academic motivation for the past 25 years. A former high school and middle school teacher, he has published over 100 articles and chapters on student motivation, and he has co-authored and co-edited 7 books on student motivation.  He is a Fellow of both the American Psychological Association and the American Educational Research Association.
