Mansfield campus starting point for Just Walk Richland
Ohio State Mansfield is the starting point for a weekend of Just Walk Richland events June 3 and 4, part of Richland Public Health’s Communities Preventing Chronic Disease program.
Jonathon Stalls, founder of Walk2Connect, and spokesperson for the joy and benefits of walking, will talk at 6 p.m. June 3 at Riedl Hall on the Ohio State Mansfield campus, 1760 University Dr., Mansfield. That talk
will continue with a walk around campus Eco Lab. Stalls is well known for his eight and a half month-long walk across the United States, completing a 3,030 mile trip by foot.
Stalls will lead two community walks on Saturday, June 4. Join in on a sunrise walk and a historical walk.
Participants will meet at North Lake Park, 270 Westbrook Ave., in Mansfield, for the sunrise walk at 7 a.m.
Beginning at 9 a.m., Stalls will provide Walk Leader training, sharing with participants the skills and support needed to build walk groups where they live, work and play. The event will be held in the community room
at the Mansfield/Richland County Public Library, Main Branch, 43 W. Third St., Mansfield. Interested parties are encouraged to R.S.V.P. by calling 419-774-4773.
A historical walk will go through downtown Mansfield with an exploration of architecture, as well as lessons of history and culture. Walkers should arrive at 1 p.m. at the gazebo in Downtown Mansfield Central Park Square at the corner of Park Avenue West and Park Street.
