Interlibrary Loan Request Management System

What is ILLiad?

ILLiad is the interlibrary loan request management system in which faculty, staff, and students in degree-granting programs can make and receive requests for articles, books, and more that are not owned or available locally.

How do I make a request?

Simply e-mail the library at bromfieldlibrary@osu.edu or osuill@osu.edu. Please indicate that you are North Central State College student, faculty, or staff member and provide the following information.

*Indicates a required field*
Author

*Title of Journal or Conference Proceedings

Any Notes about the article, books, etc. (Put any info here that will help us find the item or serve you better. Articles are typically scanned in black and white.)

NOTICE: WARNING CONCERNING COPYRIGHT RESTRICTIONS
The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be “used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research.” If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of “fair use,” that user may be liable for copyright infringement. This institution reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order if, in its judgment, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of copyright law.

Can I request a book chapter or a table of contents through ILLiad?

Yes! Email bromfieldlibrary@osu.edu or osuill@osu.edu with the same information you would include for an article request. In the pages field, you can denote the chapter pages or indicate table of contents, index, title or copyright page, etc.

Can I request textbooks through ILLiad?

We are unable to accept requests for textbooks due to the large student population that wants them and a lack of available copies at other libraries where they are checked out or on course reserve. We recommend that students ask their professor to place assigned texts on reserve at the Bromfield Library and Information Commons.

Delivery and Timeframe

Scans made from the Ohio State print collections are usually filled within 1 to 2 business days; however, scans obtained from non-Ohio Statecollections may take longer.

Limits on Requests

Please be as judicious as possible in submitting requests.

Our office may refuse to accept a request if, in our judgment, fulfillment of the request would exceed Fair Use standards or involve a violation of Copyright Law (Title 17, United States Code).

We reserve the right to determine the amount of articles we will obtain from a particular journal title not in the Ohio State Libraries collection before a copyright royalty fee (as much as $103 per article) is paid to the journal publisher. Our office will subsidize up to $60 in copyright fees per patron each year. If your requests will involve any co-payment of copyright fees, we will contact you prior to obtaining the articles.

Our Interlibrary Loan Copyright Compliance Policy outlines our procedures and commitment to abiding by Federal Copyright Law.
