Highly ranked both nationally and in the state of Ohio, the Department of Teaching and Learning offers innovative programs for those seeking a license to begin a teaching career, those who seek to add an endorsement to their license or to deepen their research-based knowledge, and those seeking to become a researcher. Through the combination of a rigorous curriculum and a supportive social environment students become scholars who investigate issues of learning and teaching in classrooms, schools, families, and other communities.
Our B.S.Ed. program prepares teachers to work in a diversity of settings—urban, rural, as well as suburban—in either primary (grades Pre-K-5) or middle (grades 4-9) childhood education. Students can also earn a Primary Education (P-5) with a Visual Impairment License, or a Dual License as a Primary Education and Intervention Specialist. Those earning a middle childhood degree can also work toward the requirements of a Middle Childhood Generalist.
