You're a Buckeye!
Hello Buckeyes!
Welcome to the new academic year! You're probably feeling a mix of excitement and nervousness right now, so the first thing to say is that you're not alone. In fact, as an Ohio State student, you should never feel alone because you're part of a very large, very special community of people—here at the Mansfield campus, in Columbus, across our other statewide campuses and facilities, and wherever our alumni proudly wear their Scarlet and Gray.
I'm Jason Opal, the dean of the campus and also a history professor. It's my great honor and privilege to lead this campus and its extraordinary team.
During the first week of the new semester, you'll have a lot to take in. You might feel overwhelmed from time to time. So, for what it's worth, my advice is to just take it all in, make a point to meet new people, and do at least one thing that would surprise your pre-Ohio State self.
And remember: You're not alone. You're a Buckeye.
