New development director named for Ohio State Mansfield
Cynthia A. Wood has been hired as Director of Community Relations and Development at The Ohio State University at Mansfield. She joins us April 18.
Wood’s tasks include building relationships with alumni and within the community, as well as establishing and implementing a clear fundraising strategy for Ohio State Mansfield.
Wood has been the Chief Executive Officer for the Veterans Memorial Civic and Convention Center in Lima for seven years. With a 40 percent cut in funding and threatened closure soon after she arrived, Wood instituted budget cuts and income development measures to result in profitability, in addition to saving a two-month cash flow reserve. She also served as campaign manager for the Civic Center Foundation’s Major Gifts Campaign, raising $1.5 million. Wood launched a Membership Development Campaign in 2014 for the Civic Center Foundation, as well as launching the foundation’s Performing Arts Series.
During two stints with the Girl Scouts, Wood achieved regional fund development goals and completed a $500,000 capital campaign for the Council Service Center. She also was part of a Communications and Development group that successfully merged offices from Toledo to Cincinnati.
Wood also has eight years of workforce development experience at James A. Rhodes State College.
An Ohio State alumna, Wood earned a Master of Education in Career and Technology Education from Bowling Green State University. She also served eight years in the United States Army Reserve as Psychological Operations Sergeant.
She is a board member for Ohio Citizens for the Arts and Downtown Lima, Inc, past board member of Lima Rotary Club, past president of the Lima Rotary Foundation and advisory board member of the Lima Regional Better Business Bureau.
