In September of 2011 Mike LaCroix was selected to become the Director of Athletics and Recreation. LaCroix previously held positions with the department as a student worker in addition to a supervisor position after graduation. LaCroix oversees day to day operation of the department with a majority of his time being spent with the intercollegiate athletic program on the Mansfield Campus consisting of Women’s Volleyball, Men’s Soccer, Women’s Basketball, Men’s Basketball, Cheerleading, and Baseball. He also directs the intramural program which is comprised of fourteen different sporting opportunities. In addition to those duties, LaCroix serves on the Recruitment and Retention Committee and is the advisor for the Mansfield Campus Skydiving Club.
Mike is from the Richland County area and attended Plymouth High School. He enjoys playing sports and acquired twelve varsity letters while playing football, basketball and track at Plymouth. He also played basketball for the Mansfield Mavericks in 2006-2007 and helped lead the team to runner up for the Ohio Regional Campus Conference.
Mike holds a Bachelors of Science in Education in the field of Sport & Leisure Studies from The Ohio State University.
Mike is a member of the Ohio Recreational Sports Association and National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association. He currently resides in Bellville with his wife and daughter.
Jennifer Racer began her career on the Mansfield Campus in the Campus Recreation Center as an Assistant Coordinator serving under the college's first Coordinator, JR Rathjens. Upon the departure of Rathjens, Racer served as Interim Coordinator for six months during the search process. She was able to return to the assistant position upon the selection of Tyler Hack. After Tyler left to pursue his PhD, Jennifer again took over as the Interim Coordinator for two years. Michael LaCroix was then hired allowing Jennifer to return to her Assistant Coordinator position.
Racer supervises daily operations of the office, as well as the student employees at the Campus Recreation Center. She coordinates non-credit course offerings, organizes intramurals and special programs, and assists in running athletic events. In addition to those duties, Racer serves on several university boards and committees including the Mansfield Staff Advisory Council, Staff Appreciation Committee, Welcome Week Committee, Homecoming Committee, and the Recruitment and Retention Committee.
During her first year on the campus, Jennifer served as the Head Coach for the Mansfield Mavericks Cheerleading squad.
Jennifer is a member of the Ohio Recreational Sports Association as well as the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association. Racer holds a Bachelor of Science from The Ohio State University.
