“This is another shining example of the outstanding and influential research being produced right here on the Mansfield campus.” -Dr. Norman Jones, English Program Coordinator, OSU Mansfield

Dr. Delagrange’s approach to research is more interactive than you might imagine. In her book, she uses small videos, slideshows, and pictures to make theories for the art of persuasion. Dr. Delagrange states, “In digital media, we have the option of creating different kinds of digital arrangements that we don’t have with words. It isn’t true that a picture is worth a thousand words. A thousand words is a thousand words, and a picture is a picture.”

With her students, Dr. Delagrange teaches the principles of collecting material and how to create persuasive digital arguments. For example, in English 2269, Dr. Delagrange’s students put together digital literacy narratives based on their own experiences of reading and writing using Audacity (a sound editing program) and iMovie. Examples of video clips that relate to English 2269 (formerly English 269) are available in the Digital Archive of Literacy Narratives (DALN).

Interested in research on digital media and rhetoric? Dr. Delagrange is currently offering an opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students to work with her independently.
