The free concert, under the direction of Dr. David Tovey, features a combination of pieces from the twelfth century to modern times. Of particular note will be several pieces reflecting various traditions surrounding St. Nicholas, whose traditional feast day is December 6. The male voices of the chorus will also sing the American premiere of Dan MacDonald’s “Christmas in the Trenches,” which recounts the now famous informal truce on Christmas Eve between German and allied troops in 1914. Among other composers represented on the program will be Chilcott, DeCromier, Victoria, Mathias, Chapman, and Manuel.
