The University Senate is an important part of the governance structure of The Ohio State University. With representation from the faculty, the student body (including undergraduate, graduate, and professional students), and administration, the University Senate receives reports and proposals from its committees and makes recommendations to the President (who presides over the Senate) and to the Board of Trustees.
The Mansfield campus elects a faculty member to serve as Senator for a three-year term. Our students elect a student Senator from this campus. The faculty Senator also is automatically a member of OSU's Faculty Council which consists of all the faculty members of University Senate.
A description of the University Senate is in Rules of the University Faculty, Chapter 3335-17.
