Course Objectives: English 110 is a beginning University Composition course designed to improve expository writing and analytical thinking by providing opportunities to study and practice the writing techniques and the reading skills necessary for research writing. This course will develop writing, critical thinking and oral expression through a variety of tasks.

Course Content: This course asks students to focus on a single theme and examine it through research strategies, analysis and composing texts for several audiences. Students are asked to write an in-depth analytical research paper, and an opinion piece. They will also compose a digital media project.

Method of Presentation: Lecture/discussion/workshop (in classroom, library and Writing Center).

Method of Evaluation: Research essay, opinion essay, short written assignments, class participation, digital media presentation and attendance.
