Course Objectives: Introduction to literature of the United States from the colonial period to the present.

Course Content: Novels, short stories, plays and poetry that help students trace the development of literary history, literary forms and themes, and the intellectual and social contexts that gave rise to U.S. literature.

Method of Presentation: In-class discussion and short lectures.

Method of Evaluation: Quizzes, collaborative writing, short essays, objective exams.
