Course Objectives:

Course Content: This course will explore the nature of humanity and how British novelists and poets have distorted it to suit their visions. What makes a man a monster? How have historical events from the French Revolution to World War II changed the way we imagine ourselves and our most horrible alternatives? We will cover the classics—such as Frankenstein and Dracula—as well as some less familiar literary portrayals of monstrosity.
