Course Objectives: Students evaluate significant texts in order to develop capacities for response and judgment; interpretation; critical listening, reading, seeing, thinking, and writing.
Course Content: Students read, discuss, and analyze significant works of fiction (mostly short stories). Course is designed for non-English majors; as a result, critical theory will not be emphasized. Also, we will draw connections between most stories and works in other genre (a news story; a poem; a film).
Method of Presentation: Lecture and discussion.
Method of Evaluation: Brief Reader Responses; mid-term quiz over literary terms; analytical essay; attendance and participation.
