Course Objectives:
- Familiarize students with the policies, procedures and services of OSU
- Challenge students to think openly about a variety of topics relevant to our campus community and to create an opportunity for honest dialog about these topics
- Acquaint students with a variety of resources and programs available at OSU
Course Content: This course utilizes a combination of completing on-line quizzes, attending programs and seminars, printing a degree audit and completing a degree planning worksheet. Students are required to respond to on-line prompts regarding the programs they attend. The grade for this course is based on the level of completion of these requirements.
Method of Presentation: Although this is a web-enhanced course, students will meet three (3) times during the quarter with an instructor (an advisor). Students will be using the CARMEN web pages along with other web resources in lieu of a textbook.
Method of Evaluation: Each module for this course specifies requirements, activities, and outcomes. Letter grades of A, B, C, D, or E will be assigned based on the total number of points received for the course. To successfully complete this course, students must engage in the following activities:
- Complete a library assignment, "Making the Leap", and corresponding four library quizzes using the internet
- Complete a degree planning worksheet for a major chosen by the student (exploring students must select a major to complete this assignment)
- Explore the various links on the Registrar's homepage and print a degree audit
- Participate in an activity relating to issues of diversity
- Attend two (2) USAS approved seminars, workshops, lectures, etc., found on the approved seminar list for USAS
- Complete the five (5) on-line USAS repeatable quizzes
