Course Objectives: To strengthen skills in brainstorming, composing, editing, researching, and critical thinking.
Course Content: STUDENTS IN 1110.03 ARE REQUIRED TO TAKE A CORRESPONDING SECTION OF 1193. In this class, we will read about and discuss the "dividing lines" that separate us and create an "us versus them" mentality. We will look at psychology, current events, and our own experiences to analyze the roots and effects of prejudice.
Method of Presentation: Discussion; reading and writing; lecture; research.
Method of Evaluation: Short Assignments; a short essay and an Analytical Project involving a research paper, editorial, and brief oral presentation. Attendance and participation are also important.
