Ohio Geography Bee Buzzes into Campus
A long day of competition at OSU Mansfield for the 2008 Ohio Geography Bee contestants ended with 8 th grader Johnathan Meckler of Hawkins Middle School, located in Lyndhurst, Ohio, being named the champion.
Grimm Tabbed for University-Wide Distinguished Staff Award
During a surprise visit by the university selection committee, including OSU President Gordon Gee, staff member Laura Grimm was named a recipient of the University’s 2008 Distinguished Staff Award.
Former OSU-M Student Named Mansfield Teacher of the Year
Dawn Williams, a second grade teacher at Woodland Elementary, was recently named Mansfield City Schools Teacher of the Year in a ceremony at the Renaissance Theatre.

Study Abroad Program Heads to South Africa
Dr. Barbara Lehman, OSU-M professor of teaching and learning, will lead a class of M.Ed. students to Cape Town, South Africa, in June to immerse them in cross-cultural experiences through children’s literature and study.
Faculty Members Chosen as Year’s Outstanding Teachers
Dr. Jeane F. Copenhaver-Johnson, assistant professor of integrated teaching and learning, was selected outstanding teacher based on overall teaching ability. Dr. Michael Dzanko, visiting assistant professor of English, was chosen as the outstanding adjunct instructor.
